Are you looking for a gift for a child who loves dinosaurs?
At the age of four, our son, Kellan, began his love (and obsession) with dinosaurs. For the next year or two everything was about dinosaurs. During that time we accumulated a lot of dinosaur toys, books and puzzles.
So, I have put together a list of suggestions from first-hand experience of seeing what a child who loves dinosaurs is interested in.
And at almost 8-years-old he still likes dinosaurs even though not to the extent he used to.
He was an early reader so he would read through the dinosaur books on his own and memorize all the names and facts about the dinosaurs. But even if your dinosaur lover isn’t reading yet the books I suggested have great pictures in them and would be a lot of fun to read together.
Most of these items we have and those that we don’t have I know our son would have liked during his dinosaur phase.
The first three items listed were his absolute favorites and got more use than just about anything he’s ever had.
Dinosaur Gift Ideas
The is THE most loved book that our son has ever had. It’s been so well-loved that it is actually falling apart. With all the many different types of dinosaurs and facts included in this book it is a really fun reference.
We have several different versions of Monopoly at our house and I think this one is my favorite. I have a lot of good memories of playing this together with Kellan.
We have an earlier version of a T-Rex Lego set but with this same T-Rex. Our T-Rex has gotten played with more than any other Lego figure so I’m guessing this set will be loved just as much by any dinosaur lover.
It’s a little challenging for young ones but that, along with a great graphic, keeps it interesting as your dino lover grows. We’ve had several different dinosaur puzzles and this is the only one we still have.
Life-Size Dinosaurs by David Bergen
This is such a fun book with huge life-size pictures included!
It’s rewarding and exciting as you uncover each dinosaur bone! Kellan and I did excavations together and since he was pretty young when we did them I had to help quite a bit. Something to keep in mind as you consider this.
This is a really fun addition to a dinosaur lovers bedroom even though it’s not the sturdiest thing. Kellan still has this displayed in his bedroom on his bookshelf.
This guy is big and kind of squishy and a pretty exciting addition to any dino lovers collection.
A great choice for kids interested in dinosaur facts. We don’t have this but I know Kellan would have loved it! The great graphics, book and card combo would have been right up his alley.
At the height of his interest in dinosaurs, Kellan knew all the dinosaur facts and would have really enjoyed this game. If your dino lover enjoys sharing dino facts then he’ll enjoy this.
Dino lovers will enjoy holding little dino figures in their hands, organizing them, putting them in the bathtub or pretending they eat each other!
Kids who enjoy knowing all the different facts will certainly want a set of flashcards. We’ve completed various learning activities with our own set.
Kids can create their own artwork with this stamp set!
I love these big floor pads by Melissa and Doug. They are good quality for a great price and work perfectly with our art easel.
And for the dino lover who would enjoy a set of larger dino figures these are a great choice!
