Children often love telling others about themselves and sharing the things that are important to them. Creating an All About Me book gives kids the opportunity to do just that and it also gives them a chance to practice their handwriting and express themselves through photos or drawings.
I created my own printable because I wanted something really open ended and adjustable. Some of the options I found online were cute but not what I was looking for. This blank format is very flexible, giving you many choices and options for what to include and how to include it.
You can choose topics from the suggestion list provided in the printable or create your own.
While working on our own All About Me books, the kids exclaimed “this is so much fun!” And a year later, they all still enjoy picking up their books and looking through them.
Older children can write their own sentences, which is what our 7-year-old did. Younger children may need help and you can either write all or most of the sentences for them. On each page I wrote most of the sentence for my 5-year-olds and then had them write one or two of the words themselves.
The picture area above the writing can be for a photo, a drawing or a graphic printed off the computer. We used a combination of these; the girls chose mostly photos and pictures and Kellan chose to draw most of his.
You can put the pages of the book in the order of your choice and then slide it into a report cover for protection. Voila! Your child’s keepsake All About Me book is complete!
The All About Me Book is a great keepsake that my own children have gone back to look at again and again!!
You can easily protect your child’s keepsake by purchasing report covers very inexpensively on Amazon. These SwingClip covers offer various colors for you to choose from. They are inexpensive and offer great protection for your child’s sweet keepsake!!
