Isn’t Kermit the Frog so perfect for our F is for Frog letter of the week theme?! I just love him! In addition to Kermit, I also included a Ty frog with a crown and a frog instrument in our frog-themed basket.
I planned a lot of activities and found a lot of frog books to read, and because we were out of town for several days over the weekend we didn’t finish everything up until Monday. But it was worth getting behind schedule to complete everything because there was so much enjoyable learning that took place.

Our Frog activities began with Kitty Cat and Tootsie Pop putting together the Melissa and Doug Alphabet Train Floor Puzzle, which includes a Frog for the letter F.
We sang the alphabet song together and each took a turn walking along the train trying to step on each letter as we sang it.
The kids played the game Pop Goes Froggio with Daddy which started out fun but ended in frustration for the girls as they couldn’t keep up with their brother.
The children used glitter glue to paint a frog picture from the Eric Carle book Color My World.
The children completed the activity sheets from the All About Reading, Pre-Reading Program by making orange thumbprints in the pond to represent fish and then coloring the page. Their pictures turned out really cute!
The children also used dot paints to complete a frog painting from this book. Thankfully I was able to convince the girls to stamp with the paints rather than rub them back and forth because the sponge tips are starting to come off. The girls were cooperative; however, they pounded so hard it sounded like there was construction going on in the house!
I created an alphabet matching activity using alphabet window clings I found at the Dollar Tree. The window clings have uppercase letters on them so I wrote all the lowercase letters on our patio door window using Crayola Window Markers. I then stuck the window clings onto the glass door and asked the children to match the uppercase letters to the lowercase letters by sticking each window cling next to it’s corresponding letter.
**If you would like to complete this activity with your child but don’t have a Dollar Tree near you, or your local Dollar Tree doesn’t carry these, Amazon carries alphabet gel window clings which you could also use.
The highlight of our frog week was going to a trampoline park and jumping like crazy frogs. It was so much fun! We were blessed to have an extended family member who invited us to a free event and I am so glad we had the opportunity to go. I have to tell you that I take our children to many different places, but this was by far the most fun I’ve ever had at a place I’ve gone to for them. As an added bonus I got a really good workout! I wish I would have brought my camera because I could have gotten some great photos, but I did get one blurry photo with my phone to share with you.
If you can find a trampoline park near your home that offers special pricing (regular price can be expensive) and you and/or your children enjoy jumping really, really high, I totally recommend you check it out.
